Iron

Iron is one of the most common elements found in nature. In fact, in groundwater supplies it is not uncommon to find some measurable amount of iron. Because iron can appear in water sources in several chemical forms. In dringing water, it will cause brown-red stains on your fixtures, dishes and laundry. In extreme cases, water will have a redish color.

Hydrogen Sulfide

Hydrogen sulfide gas dissolved in the water causes a rotten-egg odor in some groundwater. As algae grow in surface water sources, they give off harmless, smelly chemicals that can cause unpleasant tastes in drinking water.
